Display and design
In terms of the look, Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 8 is comparable to its predecessor, with just a critical difference. The phone casing is made of four sensors; at the middle is the fingerprint sensor, and at the top left corner is the LED flash.
The device is designed with a glossy glass back, which makes the phone stand out among its series.
Users of this device need not bother about fingerprint smudges; the phone has a silicone-based cover, which is transparent. This also protects the glass shell and gives the device an appealing color view from the back.
The SIM tray slot that houses both SIMs and the micro SD card is on the right side. At the base are the USB-C port type and the speaker on the right side. Also, at the left is the 3.5mm audio jack. Lastly, the phone has an IR blaster and a mic on the top.
The device features a 6.3-inch full display screen, HD+ display, and dew-drop design. The screen to body ratio is 90%.
The screen will serve the users well when watching videos, playing games, or browsing. The legibility of the screen display would allow users to operate the phone under direct sunlight. The device has been beautifully built with Gorilla Glass 5 cover at the front and back, the advantage of this is to protect the phone from scratch. This also limits cracks when dropped. Additionally, the phone has a P2i coating that protects the device from water splash.
Redmi Note 8 was made with Qualcomm Snapdragon 655 octa-core, which is backed by the Android Pie-based MIUI 10 OS, 64GB/128GB storage, and 4GB/6GB RAM. On the other series is snapdragon 400 or MediaTek CPUs, but on this device is a more powerful processor. Users can get their normal tasks done on this handset with ease.
A simple task, like launching apps, operating the camera, switching between apps, browsing, playing games, watching videos, making calls, and texting, among others, does not pose any issue.
The phone can be upgraded to MIUI 11 later on if it pleases the user. It is advisable to do so because it will give improvement to the visual and themes of the phone.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 comes equipped with a powerful 4000mAH; this can serve the users more than a day without heavy use. The phone has a Type-C 18W charger, at its price range; it has such an incredibly fast charge capability.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 features a quad-camera module, the primary 48MP sensor that has 8MP ultra-wide lens, 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP for macro. With this, users can get beautiful pictures, impressive portraits, and Macro modes. Even with sunlight, the pictures look sharp, and in the dark, the pictures come out decent with good quality.
Another advantage that came with the phone is the LED flash. There is a 13MP snapper that can be used to take cute selfies. It has options like filters and other beauty editing features on the camera settings.
