When starting out the designing of the foldable hardware mechanism of the Huawei mate X, Huawei went ahead to make use of a first time falcon wing hinge system.
The components that were employed in building this hinge system were not publicly exposed by the OEM but they did make a point to describe in detail exactly how durable it is.
The Huawei mate x underwent over 100,000 folds during extensive lab stress tests, thus you can be rest assured that this smartphone is very durable.
The Huawei mate x can also unfold. A button can be located on the side bar of the device which resides in it’s rear side. When you push this button, the Huawei takes on a full tablet view display.
Triple cameras can also be found on the afore mentioned side bar. Alongside a finger print sensor that also acts as the power button and a USB type C port which is located at the base of the bar.
In it’s unfolded state, the Huawei mate x boasts of an excellent 8- inch tablet which functions with 2200 x 2480 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 414 PPI.
When the Huawei mate x is folded, it then transforms into two smaller displays. It has a vertical bar which is placed on the left side of the rear 6.38- inch OLED panel. This mode comes with a resolution of 2480 x 892 pixels.

Camera
Huawei has a reputation in cameras and this extends even to their smartphones. Thus, the Huawei mate x carries a triple camera system which comprises a 40MP wide lens, a 16MP ultra wide sensor and an 8MP telephoto sensor. Even though the Huawei mate x does not have a single camera dedicated to selfies, it is still very unique.
It is a known fact that quality- wise, rear cameras are better than selfie cameras. The triple cameras on the side bar can also be used to snap selfies. It works as a view finder and you can easily see yourself in the rear view display.
Hardware, Software And Other Features
It should come as no real surprise that the Huawei mate x is powered by the kirin 980 SoC. Since the Huawei mate x is the first smartphone produced by Huawei that runs 7nm SoC, expectations for it were quite lofty. Due to the vast array of actions that might be performed by the chip set, an 8GB RAM is made available to balance things out.
The phone has a storage of 512 GB that is primarily responsible for storing files. Making use of a nano memory card can guarantee expansion. A nano memory card can extend memory capacity up to the tune of 256GB.

The starting price of this smartphone is pegged at $2,300 (around 900,000 naira). It can be bought in China for CNY17,000. It has a rather laughable price of $10,000 on Aliexpress.
The Huawei mate x was unveiled at Barcelona in 2019 and it’s launch period is predicted to be around summer.
