UNICAL, as it is called by students, was created in… and it is located in Cross-River State, south-south part of the country. The tertiary institution was among the second batch of universities created in Nigeria as the country proceeds in her mission to have many western education systems in all states of the federation.

It should be noted that UNICAL was onetime the campus for the university of Nigeria before UNN eventually found its home in Nsukka, Enugu state in 1975.
