DELSU School Fees For Fresh Students (Indigenes & Non-Indigenes) 2022/2023

Looking at the list of Tertiary institutions in Nigeria, you will agree with me that the country is no longer where it used to be in previous years. Many universities, college of education and Polytechnics have found their ways into the country which have ultimately led to the increment in the quality of education in the country.

Talking of universities gaining ground among Nigerian students, Delta State University is definitely one of them.

Popularly known as DELSU, Delta State University is no doubt one of the best tertiary institutions you will ever come across in Nigeria. This is because of its zero tolerance for laziness, failure and immorality.

Before we proceed to the features that distinguish DELSU from other Nigerian universities, let’s take a brief look at its history and how it became one of Nigeria’s leading universities.

History of DELSU

It has been a long way coming for the Delta State University. It initially started as a Government Teachers’ Training College when the country is still under the control of the colonial masters.

Few years after the country’s independent, the tertiary institution experienced a significant change in standard as it was no longer a training college. It was changed to a College of Education.

The institution existed as college of education for 10 years (1971-1981) before it recorded another milestone achievement. This time, it was attached to the University of Benin (UNIBEN) as an affiliate. However, that didn’t last long before it became a home (campus) for Bendel State University’s faculty of Education.

Unfortunately, Bendel State was split into two to produce Edo and Delta States in 1991. The Bendel State University falls into Edo state and it became Edo State University, leaving the newly-formed Delta state with no tertiary institution.

This forced the state government under the leadership of Orogun Felix Ibru into turning the onetime college of education to Delta State University on the 30th of April 1992. Located in Abraka, DELSU has since become a household name when it comes to tertiary education in Nigeria and beyond.

You should know that the University began with just five faculties in 1992, but it currently boasts of 13 faculties and departments. They include the following:

Campus in DELSU

DELSU has three campuses, with the one at Abraka serving as the permanent site or the main campus. As mentioned, the Abraka campus is the major DELSU campus where seven faculties and the administrative block are located.

Anwai-Asaba campus is the second as it consists of just three faculties. The Oleh campus comes third on the list despite sharing the same number of faculties (3) with the Anwai-Asaba campus.

It will interest you to know that each campus has an e-learning center, sport facilities, and well-designed classrooms as part of the school’s desire to provide quality education service.

DELSU School Fees

There is a slight differences in the amount of money paid by indigene of Delta State and students from other states. Delta-born students pay lesser school fees compared to what other students pay.

Your course and your academic status (either new or returning student) also play a role in determining the amount of money you are expected to pay as DELSU student. To make things easy for you, below is the list of schools fees DELSU students are expected to pay during 2020-21 academic session:
